This 4-week beginner course is designed for people who want to try something new, feel more confident, and enjoy dancing in a relaxed, social way.

You don’t need experience, rhythm, or a partner.
You just need to show up — we’ll guide you step by step.

What This Course Is About

This course is for adults who:

  • Want to feel comfortable dancing with others

  • Are new to salsa (or feel like a beginner again)

  • Want a fun weekly activity, not a performance class

Each week builds gently on the previous one, so you feel progress without pressure.

What You’ll Learn Over 4 Weeks

  • The essential salsa basics (clear and practical)

  • How to lead or follow comfortably

  • Simple turns and movements you can actually remember

  • How to dance socially with confidence

Classes are structured, calm, and taught at a beginner-friendly pace.

What to Expect in Class

  • A welcoming, supportive atmosphere

  • Friendly instructors who explain things clearly

  • Everyone at the same beginner level

  • No pressure to be “good” — just to enjoy learning

Many people come on their own — it’s completely normal.

Choosing Your Role (Important)

In Salsa, dancers work in two roles:

  • Lead – suggests and guides the movements

  • Follow – responds to those signals and completes the movements

Both roles are equally important and focus on different skills.

When booking this course, you’ll need to choose one role (Lead or Follow) and stay with it for the duration of the course. Each role is learned differently, and consistency helps you progress and feel confident.

About roles and gender

Traditionally, Leads were male and Follows female.
As Salsa has evolved, many schools — including Sabroso — no longer link roles to gender.

At Sabroso, you are welcome to choose either role, regardless of gender.

It’s helpful to know that how strictly roles are linked to gender can depend on how progressive the local dance scene or country is. Some places around the world may still follow more traditional expectations.

In the UK, however, this is rarely an issue. In around 99% of classes, socials, and festivals, dancing any role you choose feels completely normal and comfortable.
